A Proud History Of Community Service !

Our Daily Bread is located in Taunton, Massachusetts, a small city of approximately 50,000 with a diversified population. The organization was started in February 1985. Its goal is to serve a nutritious meal in cordial surroundings to those in need in the Greater Taunton area. Our organization was founded by the Rector and Vestry of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Seed money was given by the Mustard Seed Foundation. Subsequently, we have become a city-wide sponsored ecumenical operation with a Board of Directors made up of people from St. Thomas Episcopal Church, members of the business community, and local citizens.

The program started as a two-day-a-week program and in a few months started serving five days a week. In 1988 we were serving an average of 82 people a day and by 1999 had grown to serving an average of 150 people a day. In 2004, over 33,000 meals were served.

Our Daily Bread has become a respected community service organization in Taunton that provides food for the hungry, one of the very basic human needs, to many of its citizens.

Our goal is to continue to fill the needs of those less fortunate and to provide dignity and stability to the lives of our guests. We hope to continue doing what we do, and doing it well, as long as there is a need for our services and hunger exists in our society.
